To celebrate the upcoming release of the major motion picture, Kung Fu Panda 2, Dreamworks Animation tapped us to develop an online game surrounding its main character, Po (voiced by Jack Black). We produced an interactive game that was fun to play and easy to share.
To celebrate the upcoming release of the major motion picture, Kung Fu Panda 2, Dreamworks Animation tapped us to develop an online game surrounding its main character, Po (voiced by Jack Black). We produced an interactive game that was fun to play and easy to share.
The game offers a modern twist on the age-old staring contest, where the player uses an assortment of items to distract Po, the lovable but determined panda. For players with a webcam, we developed something similar to Kinect for Xbox 360, where a player’s hand motions trigger firecrackers, gongs and lanterns that break Po’s concentration. A keyboard version is also available for users without a webcam. Hit enough targets and you will be the newest hero inducted into the Hall of Warriors — a congratulatory message from Po appears, along with "share" links for Facebook and Twitter, and a teaser trailer for the sequel. Webcam players also receive a shareable set of photos highlighting their in-game dominance, just like a photo booth at the fair. And in order to accommodate the film’s international distribution, we created a framework allowing for easy localization.
