PSP makes everywhere better, and RockBand for the PSP makes everywhere rock harder. Suddenly, anywhere and anytime can become center stage for you to rock out and channel your inner rock star.
Deutsch LA teamed up with Famous Interactive to form the ultimate supergroup in charge of performing the online marketing campaign for RockBand on the PSP. The campaign consisted of developing a new RockBand section on the existing North American Sony PSP microsite and shredding out a huge set list of Rich Media Banners that would take center stage on the homepages of Yahoo! and IGN.
In updating the PSP microsite, Famous Interactive quickly got into a rhythm and was able to decipher the PureMVC code base despite it being written by Swedish programmers. Our tasks involved revamping the existing navigation system and creating the new RockBand section with an opening reveal that would make even Ozzy Osbourne jealous.
Famous Interactive completed a huge set list of Rich Media Banners. Each told the story that you can rock anywhere and at any time. Whether if you are studying at library, waiting at the doctor’s office, or stuck at the airport, with RockBand for the PSP, you can turn anywhere into a stage.
The strict file size requirements of each banner ad (40KB) created quite a challenge because they required the use of photography, custom fonts, lighting effects, and simulated gameplay footage. Through inventive methods, we used photo compression techniques and native Flash bitmap features, to ensure that performance was not cut short.
