For those who prefer bathing suits over hazmat suits, we created a chance for users to “trash” their friends Facebook page to help raise awareness about cleaning up the ocean.
Just when you thought it was cool to go green, Famous went BLUE. DDB and Heal the Bay collaborated with Famous Interactive to create a stylized solution for their latest campaign: Raising awareness of the tons of plastic bags polluting our beloved oceans.
The creative concept involved creating a quirky Flash animated microsite in which users could virally spread the word by ‘trashing’ their friend’s favorite site, such as a blog for Facebook page. This was technically achieved by creating an interactive online form that allowed users to personalize an email message for their unsuspecting friends.
Upon opening the link contained in the email message, the friend is navigated to the webpage only to then see plastic trash bags suddenly appear and impede their online ‘surfing’. Clicking on the webpage only would make matters worse. Famous Interactive developed a dynamic site takeover frame to seamlessly deliver this purposely intrusive experience.
But it’s not all fun and games. The visually stylized microsite, of which all art work was hand drawn and hand animated, is also an informative experience relaying a powerful message to stop the inaction by contacting our Sacramento government. Nobody likes a ‘trashed’ webpage. Likewise, nobody likes a trashed ocean.
